Igniting a passion for reading often begins with book selection or finding "that author." By incorporating novel studies in my classroom, I will introduce students to books they would not necessarily have chosen to read independently. This broadens students' view of literature and introduces them to new genres. The novels donated to my classroom will be enjoyed by current and future students for years to come! My ultimate goal is to instill a lifelong love of reading in my students. With literature circles, students are given opportunities to explore appropriately challenging texts and converse with their peers. This makes the reading both more meaningful and engaging. Students will also expand their vocabulary through the exposure to new words and uses of figurative language embedded throughout the books I have chosen for this project.
