These sets of books will be used in literature circles in our classroom. The students will read the books in small groups with teacher guidance. After reading, the students will create a "one-pager" that reflects the book. These sets of books will allow the students access to books that reflect individual cultures and give them an opportunity to read and discuss the books together. This project will help me to provide a wide variety of literature for my students to read in small groups to enjoy and discuss. Studies show that students who read widely are more successful in school. At the end of the literature circle cycle, the students will invite their parents to class to hear a short presentation of what they have learned. It gives the parents a way to be involved in the lives of their students.
