The materials and supplies will be used for social-emotional learning for my friends within the classroom. It will give them an opportunity to work together, practice empathy, and problem solve in a safe learning environment with their friends.
These materials will not only help with social-emotional development but also long-term skills that they will use in adulthood. When kids know how to use empathy and know-how to problem-solve this, in turn, helps them with their learning for when a problem arises they know how to ask for help and ask questions on how to do something that may be hard, rather than giving up.
The grocery store and ice cream counter will be used within our block area as well as our kitchen area to help with an imaginative play which will help my friends practice good social skills. We know the importance of being able to work together as a team and these materials will help them do so. The purpose of play and exploration in early childhood helps my students become great leaders, kind people and allows them to practice being good people. The purpose of play is overlooked in so many different avenues and I am here to help promote social-emotional learning for these kids as well as for their families so they can be kind people who know how to problem solve in a positive way as well as have empathy.
