It's no secret that students are struggling academically, socially, and emotionally due to COVID-19. Interactive games allow students the freedom to work in pairs or small groups with minimal adult support. This allows them to build peer relationships, social skills, and problem-solving skills with each other and on their own. Whether students are working on academic puzzles in a small group, or even with the teacher, the self-correcting nature of some of these activities allows for them to see and fix their own incorrect answers. Students in special education can have difficulties sitting still in class while working on academic skills, fidget devices such as squishy balls, pop-its, and other small items can help these students stay seated and focused on the task at hand. Students also benefit from incentives to do well in class and work towards their social, emotional, and academic goals. These items will help to encourage students to focus on classwork and do well with their individual and classroom goals.
