Students are tired of staring at their computers or the Activepanel all day, so having magazines to read would be a refreshing break for their eyes and brains. Each student would get to have their own magazine which is fun and makes it more personal. I want to see the student excitedly flipping through the magazine, looking at the pictures and wanting to see what the article is about. We'll use the magazines to work on a variety of skills - vocabulary, finding the main idea, context clues, and more. In addition, the Junior Scholastic magazines cover a variety of current events which will give the ESL students some topics to practice speaking and writing about, and to be more aware of what is happening in the world.
