At our school, science teachers have a period we get to explore various topics with students. As a wildlife enthusiast myself, I teach my students about animals in the wild, basic survival skills in the wilderness (including health topics) and how to navigate through the wilderness. Students will be learning how to care for certain ailments that can happen if you are stranded/backpacking in the wilderness. I firmly believe everyone should have a general knowledge of what to do in survival situations, because you never know when you could be in a situation where the information could prove useful!
