This project will aid in my students sensory needs. We are trying to create a corner designated specifically for this need in the classroom. Most of my students have a sensory processing disorder, which is often exhibited through attention seeking and/or defensive behaviors. Creating a sensory corner, as part of their everyday classroom diet will give my students their own special space to reduce or eliminate the anxiety and sometimes physical pain they may feel when their sensory system is not functioning correctly. When my students get overstimulated or overwhelmed, this sensory corner will be a place for them to escape. Sensory tools also help students increase concentration, develop fine motor skills and encourages language skills. Please help me help my students with their sensory needs, which will in turn help them succeed academically in the classroom. Thank you so much in advance!
