These alternative seating options and floor/tabletop desks will allow students options to be more comfortable while completing assignments in class. Flexible seating allows students to move while learning, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. Allows students the option to move in turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. Alternative seating also helps students to focus better on what they are learning and the task they are completing. My classes are small and my students have created a community, a safe space. They genuinely care about each other and want to see each other succeed. They ask about each other, they push each other to succeed. Students have asked if they can sit on the floor or on their desk so it seems more personal during instruction and while working with their peers. I would like to be able to give them alternative seating and desk options.
