The ESOL population of fifth graders who attend our school are Russian, Spanish, or Hebrew speakers. We often see an increase in December of Portuguese students. These materials will help to introduce our vocabulary for familiar items these ten year olds have in native language words. These materials will allow the 10 year old students to be successful in learning clusters of words using photographs. Confidence is built and successful understanding of English will allow the ESOL students to make use of their newly acquired vocabulary. These intermediate students will blossom.
