Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that will help them stay engaged in their work. In a self contained classroom, it is extremely important that students have the opportunity to explore options and find what is best for them. The two additional active seats will help my students get out either fidgets without distracting their peers. This will allow the students to work for a longer period of time without massive distraction.
Social-emotional and vocational skills is an essential part of a self-contained placement. After COVID-19 all students are struggling significantly on how to interact with peers, teachers, and their community. My students would benefit from the social-emotional and vocational skills units that are on Teachers Pay Teachers. These units are special education based and used with all different levels of students. It is my belief with access to the amazing curriculum on Teachers Pay Teachers my students will be able to overcome the gaps created by COVID-19 and jump into understanding social-emotional and vocational learning to shape them into successful and engaged members of our community.
