Many years ago educators heard the phrase "no child left behind." While there may not be any legal statutes for educators to adhere to the act President Bush signed, it is still best practices. Again, as many, if not all of my students first school experience was in a virtual setting, I am working to change the perception and mindset regarding school. I am also working to bridge the gaps with basic skills missed during virtual learning. I will use the materials to start a literacy center in my classroom. Students will benefit from receiving small group instruction, one on one instruction as well as independent practice while in the literacy center. Barack Obama asked the question "How do I close that first three-quarters of the achievement gap, education gap, wealth gap and what gives me the best chance to do that? His response was, do the right thing by people. Simple, right? As educators, we must always do what is in the best interest of students, and giving them the best possible experience after the pandemic is what I want to do. RF.1.4 Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension. RF.1.4a Read on-level text with purpose and understanding. RF.1.4b Read on-level text orally with accuracy, appropriate rate, and expression on successive readings.
