These items will help my students find peace and calm at the moment and learn coping strategies to use once they leave my office. The items will help take their mind off of their nerves and feel safe to express how they are feeling and what they are struggling with. The bubble wall, aromatherapy, and sound machine will be used to calm students and help them focus on their breathing and allow them to calmly assess the situation they are dealing with rather than be caught up in emotions and adrenaline. The fidget items are used to help students use motor skills to alleviate anxiety and pent-up energy. Students will be able to learn how to utilize mindfulness strategies that they can easily implement throughout the school day...even in a crowded classroom. One of my goals as a counselor is to provide them with a place to decompress and give them tools to carry throughout their lives. The ASCA standards that will be met are B-SMS 4, M4, M3, and B-SMS 7.
