My students are autistic and struggle with handling books gently. These board books would give them reading material that is sturdy and engaging. The students in my class find familiar stories comforting and gravitate towards books that have previously been read to them. Having these classic children’s books will engage my students and help develop their literacy and language skills. Icons will be used to allow students to request specific books they want to read. Also, visual supports will be used to work on speech and language goals as we read these familiar stories.
