There has always been those students who tend to struggle with the comprehension of math topics, however, with the school closures, distance learning and changes in our school schedule due to COVID this has magnified the amount of students who are struggling with math. The addition of tables to my classroom will provide my students with the opportunity to develop team building skills and aid in the understanding of mathematic concepts through discussions. In my classroom students build their own "textbook" through the creation of interactive notebooks with foldables. This allows me to properly chunk the material for my students into "bite-size" pieces to aid in the comprehension of the material. Additionally, by allowing my students to sit and work together in groups they are able to share ideas, discuss mistakes, and create higher level thinking skills.
