The GrowLab II Two-Tier Indoor Garden is a growing system that enables indoor growing. Students will use the system to understand the process of aeroponics gardening, grow produce from seed to plant, and eventually harvest the plants to cook and eat. This will be used across all disciplines. These include, but are not limited to math, science, language arts, technology, and community involvement/engagement. In addition to these numerous academic areas, an indoor garden will encourage collaboration, inspire wellness, and add to the climate of the classroom. Not only will we grow fruits and vegetables; we will also grow students’ math, science, language arts, and social studies abilities! We will also be promoting student responsibility and healthy eating. This earth-friendly approach uses less water and space than soil gardens. Plus we can grow produce all year round. We will cover educational concepts within our curriculum, beginning with parts of a plant, how plants grow, nutrition, fertilization, seed to table, food deserts and so much more! This will be an amazing asset to our continually growing school!
