In the classroom, flexible seating allows students to take control of the way they learn and make the choices that work best for them. Currently, there are limited choices with a lack of comfort, which prevents them from being successful and staying engaged in their learning. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where they work. Not to mention that my students are kindergarteners and full of wiggles! In addition, it is important for students to have fun, exciting, and engaging stories to read together and independently. Overall, the books that are included will help the students learn sequencing, problem solving, and vocabulary. I have seen positive results when students are given the power of choice when it comes to seating and what they enjoy to read.
