As a school nurse, I aim to provide care and support to my students so they can be successful in and out of the classroom. Providing more seating in the health office allows me to accommodate more students at one time, which decreases the amount of students being left untreated. This helps me to see my students efficiently so I can treat them and send them back to their classrooms to learn. Providing water bottles and cups to my students is important for them to stay hydrated throughout the day so they can focus on learning. I get several students per day with headaches, stomachaches and dry throats all due to having had no water because they forgot their water bottle at home. I aim to provide students with water bottles that they can write their name on and keep in their classroom to use if they forget to bring their own water bottle. Providing undergarments and feminine products is essential in preventing a disruption of learning as well. Students have unexpected accidents and may not be prepared with the necessary supplies, so providing them with those supplies reduces the amount of time spent outside the classroom, which increases the amount of time spent learning. These are just a few examples of how these resources will provide care and support to my students and will in turn increase the time spent learning in the classroom.
