The materials listed for this project will be beneficial for the students in my class because we have lots of high energy. This year, we are learning to regulate our feelings, learning that our feelings matter, and also learning to use the calming corner appropriately. These specific items will allow my students to listen to calming sounds, and learn about their emotions in a healthy and positive way. Right now, the students are transitioning to myself, as their new teacher, and trying to acclimate to a new schedule which can make anyone feel overwhelmed. My students deserve to have a special spot to help them control their emotions in a positive way. The pillows and fuzzy mats can help the students focus on their work while feeling calm or relaxed. Instead of taking meaningless breaks, we are learning to be productive while we calm our emotions. The emotion posters will be a great addition to the corner, so my students can learn exactly what each emotion is and why they are feeling the way they are in the moment.
