Like every teacher I want what is best for my students. They work hard, they solve, problems, they enjoy being at school, and they want to learn. Sometimes this requires them to do research and/or be on an iPad. I am constantly trying to teach them in ways they learn best. Students are amazing with technology. I teach through different research based projects. One project I do is about spiders. When we are using our iPads the students get to use QR codes to take them to different sites to learn about spiders. Most second graders are still learning how to read so the places I have them go have videos or books that will read to them. Headphones would give them the chance to focus and not have to listen to the other iPads in the room. One other thing headphones would be useful for is to be able to help them focus during their iPad time they have daily. They use an app that has lessons just for them. As a teacher I strive to help fill in the holes as much as possible, or to extend their thinking. This app helps me do that, but it is hard to focus when you have so much going on around you.
