The items that were chosen will help students master the decoding of words. The students will use the resources to help build their knowledge of letter-sound relationships. The use of magnetic letters in the classroom helps build students’ letter identification skills, letter-sound correspondence and phonics skills. It makes learning fun, engaging and provides students with a tactile learning experience. These tools help solidify the relationship between phonemes and graphemes. The students I service come form a diverse background, English is not their first language, they need the extra support in building their literacy skills. All children should have the same opportunity to use various resources that help build their literacy skills.
