The pandemic has left students with so many emotions and periods of adjustments in how and where they learn. With all the changes students can feel overwhelmed and not in control of their environment. Having the ability to choose seating can help improve the engagement of students and provide much-needed choices for students as they adjust to returning to the school building. We are working on developing independent learners who are engaged in learning and allowing for students to find a working space where they feel comfortable can promote engaged and motivated students. COVID has led to many students not having the stamina needed to remain engaged in their work. Flexible seating provides students with the ability to stay focused on their work and continue their growth as learners. Headphones are necessary for students to become 21st-century learners. The pandemic has created academic gaps and headphones especially in literacy allow students of diverse abilities to access grade-level curriculum and can help reduce the growing achievement gap of students.
