Coming off distance learning has been very difficult for many of my students with engagement. I decided to teach coding to help them understand what was behind the computers, phone, tablets, video game, and other devices they have been using this past year. I started with the history of where it all came form and that it did not exist at a certain point in history. Students were amazed at this information.
When we jumped in to coding, students became engaged in all subjects. They have grown and learned so much, that I want to take their learning further. I want to be able to teach them to bring their knowledge of coding to 3D printing.
I will be able to teach them to take stories they have read and bring a character to life. In addition, they will be able to learn how to make things for others. They will even be able to make math manipulatives in shapes they like to use. This all adapts to what the students like with the use of coding they have learned. It is just taking that knowledge and adjusting it to the program the 3D printer uses, which will help them also problem solve.
Thank you,
