After being at school full time this year, I noticed an uptick in stress related visits to the library. Sometimes they asked for a book, but more often than not, they just wanted a quiet space to calm themselves and have a minute alone. The guidance counselor and Administrative Assistant reported the same, so we started brainstorming about what we could do to help. Releasing stress for students and teachers is my goal! While I would love to hire a Masseuse, it isn't practical. That's why I am excited about the warming neck pads and calming sounds from the noise machine. We can pretend to be at the beach for a bit! Adding the calming buckets filled with stress balls, coloring books, scented markers, and magic sand, we will find ways to rejuvenate, so we can tackle our day. Students and teachers will also be able to read inspirational funny stories because laughter really is the best medicine! This short, 'self imposed-time out' will give students and teachers a short respite from their day and a place to go before the stress takes over.
