This school year I am starting Literature Circle in my 5th grade class. Each circle will consist of a group of 5-6 classmates that will read and discuss the same book together. Through these circles my students will be able to have deeper engagement, increased intrinsic motivation, and an opportunity for productive and fun conversations with their classmates and friends. I am hoping through these Lit Circles that I will be able to help transform my 5th graders into inquisitive students who love to converse about a good book. My goal is to build avid and enthusiastic readers. Every child deserves the chance to experience the excitement of a new book! Many of my students do not have access to books at home and rely on my classroom library to help fulfill their reading desires. It would be wonderful for my students to be able to have access to high quality reading materials that they can discuss with their friends. Together we can help keep the desire to read with books for our Lit Circles. All of the supplies will be used to either engage or incentive students and help them fall in love with books. All of the supplies will allow students to have individualized supplies to help with COVID concerns. The headphones will be useful for our audiobook literature circles. Not only will students have headphones at school but those students who are at home can have a pair as well. Along with having a personal set of headphones each student will have their own pencil cases with individual writing supplies that will allow us to analyze and annotate the text for further understanding of the texts.
