Computers have been the main source of lesson delivery throughout the pandemic. My students were neglected opportunities to express their creativity through hands-on activities. This year all of my students are excited to experience art class again. The moment they step into my class, they are smiling eager to see what the next art lesson is. At our campus, we are focusing on providing our students with experiences that build their social and emotional learning skills. My art class is a safe space where students feel comfortable expressing themselves with their art and taking more risks. The art class allows students and teachers to engage with one another that provides rich opportunities for social-emotional learning. The materials listed in this project will help me implement lessons that will promote positive interactions and help students process challenges and failures. Since math is a weakness at our school, I have also included rulers and shapes so that I can incorporate these tools in my lesson. This will provide students an opportunity to learn how to use these tools when creating art projects.
