These books will help my students who are below in their reading skills. Due to COVID-19, a majority of my students are reading at a Kindergarten level while learning second grade material so it can be extremely difficult for them to understand the lessons I teach. These new books will also provide a bigger variety for my students to choose from and find that love for reading. Providing more books will also help them with sight words and their reading skills, and it will hopefully benefit them and catch them up to the second grade reading level. The standards addressed are: Rl.2.10 Read and comprehend stories & poetry at grade level. RF.2.3 Apply phonics to decode words at a second grade level. RF.2.4 Read with sufficient accuracy/rate/expression to support comprehension.
