Working with students who have disabilities that impact their reading and writing skills can be challenging, for both the student and the teacher. Using reading programs that are systematic and include explicit, sequential instruction is a great way to reach these learners and build their reading skills. Incorporating fun games and engaging supplementary activities to the students' reading program will increase student motivation as well as secure the reading and writing skills being developed. Additionally, students will show that they are able to generalize a learned concept from the reading program to other reading activities within their lives. Your support in helping me to purchase these supplemental activities will have a positive impact with these students and the skills needed to become successful, independent readers and writers.
