After Hurricane Ida, many of my students have lost at least the first month of learning. We are in recovery mode as we are learning using instructional materials from last summer. Students will use the Chromebooks to boost their reading habits, increase their language skills and knowledge, and have the necessary technology to complete classwork and homework assignments. The need for these Chromebooks would assist in boosting their morale and motivation to gain what was lost. Just having a simple app or language program would change mindsets and encourage motivation to learn and give their best. Regaining and learning are at the top of my students' mindset this school year. Having a Chromebook for just their language applications and programs will further their learning and excitement for living and thriving in their new homeland. Students not only need old-fashion paper workbooks to learn; Chromebooks and applications/programming help, too. Having additional supplemental technology support for small group instruction will aid in their learning and change their mindset about their new language. My students are ready to tackle their new educational endeavors head-on.
