Students are coming into kindergarten needing socialization skills. Play allows them opportunities to talk with peers and gain communication skills. The alphabet manipulatives requested in my project will provide my students tools to interact with one another. Language and literacy skills are crucial for kindergartners to build a solid foundation that will be built upon as they progress through their education. Manipulatives provide a play based learning approach to the acquisition of the standards based curriculum that is being taught in my classroom. Students learn best when provided a variety of materials engaging multiple modalities of learning styles. My project meets the needs of many learning styles.
