Many students ask for a snack on a daily basis. Why is this? Many of the students come hungry to school and knew that they would most likely be hungry when they left school. Most of my students do not have the means to pack and bring a snack, they didn't eat breakfast, and some are even in after-school programs until dinner time or beyond. One of my main goals as a classroom teacher is to help my students feel cared for and safe. When you choose to help me provide healthy snack options for my class, you're helping me to make sure part of my student's most basic needs are being met. You're helping me to fuel my student's brains so that they can focus and learn without having to worry about being hungry. My students will know that there are people who love and care for them no matter what.
