Young children need toys that resemble themselves. Dolls with a variety of ethnicities, skin tones, and abilities are the perfect learning tool! Younger children with speech-language impairments develop language through play. What better material than dolls that resemble themselves? Toys allow children to learn to express themselves and to problem solve while playing naturally. Using toys that look like our students and their family members promotes self-awareness and confidence. It also allows children to experience toys that represent varying cultures and ideas. This opens doors to naturally talk about differences and teaches acceptance.
