School can sometimes be a student's only safe place. With the Thanksgiving break approaching, students will be spending a week at home without their school family. We would like to send our students on break with a little piece of school to share at home so we will be making apple pies! Students can then share the experience making pies with their family and think back to their school family. We want student to know they have a safe place and a feel a sense of belonging and community at school. By doing this activity, we will be building a school family and thus letting students focus on learning while at school. When students feel safe and welcomed, they can also focus on their education.
