These past few years have been hard in a lot ways but they have especially been hard for second grade students. Their Kindergarten year was cut short and most of their first grade year was spent on-line. Now that they are having a somewhat "normal" second grade year, we are seeing how much these student's reading has suffered. I have a variety of reading levels in my second grade class and majority of my students are well below where they should be and because of this I see my students are not "nuts" about reading. In fact, many of them tell me they do not like to read (what?!). Therefore, I would like to enhance my class library and make our classroom more inviting by having a place where my students can come sit and listen to books. Also, many of the books I am requesting are leveled-readers that focus on specific words/skills and will greatly help support and reinforce my instruction.
