During reading and writing workshop, students are often asked to gather together to hear the mini-lesson and to collaborate with partners. Currently, my students have to sit on a cold, tile floor. Having a classroom carpet will provide the students a warm, safe, and comfortable spot to gather and work together. The classroom carpet will serve as our classroom meeting area. Students are welcome to not only sit during a mini-lesson, but during independent work time. Being a self-contained classroom, the classroom carpet will provide another option for flexible seating.
