Since the school's founding eight years ago a concert band has not been offered to students. This will be the very first year that the students in my school will have the choice to participate in a band. Without this opportunity, many students that would like to learn a musical instrument may never have the chance. Being able to offer this class to students will majorly influence them and help them to become more well-rounded individuals. This class will aid them in developing important musical skills as well as social emotional skills. They will practice teamwork and build independent life skills such as organization and self-discipline. Band has also been shown to increase the academic performance of students involved. These music stands and books will help provide the foundation needed to offer this amazing opportunity to the students at my school, enhancing not only the classroom environment but the school as a whole.
