All of are students need an outlet to express themselves and get rid of some build up frustration. Some do with art, or technology, and writing. My group of boys do it through sports. It gives them a chance to show their talent, and burn some energy at the same time. Being in a residential treatment program, students are bounced around from school to school and placement to placement. Their only solid thing is the shoes they wear, and the outdoor environment that stays constant. When these boys hit the concrete floor, they come alive with energy and gifts that are amazing to watch. They learn hands on team work, and social skills that will carry them into their future once they are released from their treatment programs. This equipment will be used here at the school , to give the whole class a chance to step away from computers, classroom learning, the frustrations of the mind, and be outside in the elements for a while each day doing what they love.
