Hesitant readers need books too. These materials will aid in independent reading. Middle school students need interesting updated literature to thrive. Technology and the pandemic has hindered this. I currently teach a combination of gen ed and special ed. Both groups have limited access to public libraries and the school library is null and void. They continually ask for books but I am limited to my own collection. When books are supplied by the school they are not contemporary and children neglect to read them. The students will read with the right books.
