The whiteboard provides me with immediate access to how students are processing and their solution to a problem. It is a hands-on tool that students prefer to paper-pencil. Since students work is submitted online, the whiteboard is a perfect substitute to the paper-pencil assignment where the work is shown. Students can share the answer and process with their peers which is not possible in the same way as paper and pencil work. It makes students accountable for their work and requires them to think why solving a problem their way makes sense. The whiteboard for students provides both a blank background and a large graph where they can apply the learning they are processing, then share with their peers to explain and defend their strategy.
