The materials I have selected for the kindergarten classroom will enhance social/emotional and academic skills. Through creative and imaginative play children can grow emotionally, socially, intellectually, and even physically. Creative experiences help children develop these skills and enable them to share their thoughts, feelings, and ideas. Creative play reinforces important life skills such as responsibility, teamwork, citizenship, gratitude, and kindness. The ten frames and math counters help kids develop number sense. It teaches them to subitize and is a precursor to addition. They also provide kids with a visual of numbers and an understanding of combinations to 10.
