I am requesting an iPad. As we continue to grow the use of technology in our school, I see the opportunity to implement the flipped classroom model now more than ever. I am requesting the funding for this project to allow me to deliver instruction for homework, leaving more class time to practice with the material. I plan to use the iPad to record my lesson with guided notes and modeling problems. Students will watch the videos and copy notes, while answering questions that are imbedded in the lesson. This is a great opportunity to differentiate during class and allow more time to attend to student need. I see many student benefits to this model including: 1. No time restrictions - students have the ability to sit with the video lesson as long as they would like, at their preferred time. Students can replay and pause the video at their leisure. ELL students benefit from this too! 2. Limiting classroom distractions- the traditional classroom model is not the best model for everyone. Social distractions or discomfort can cause students to miss out on important points in the lesson. This model allows them to learn the material in their safe space! 3. Longer opportunity to develop questions - with a clear mind and learning environment, students can become fully engaged in the video lesson and think about the material on a deeper level. This will allow them to think of questions and come to class prepared to ask! 4. Parent Involvement - often times students and parents report that parents are no help to their child for math homework. By providing a video lesson, parents have the opportunity to learn the material in order to assist their child!
