ELA manipulatives will assist in building words that correlate with sounds. This leads to understanding of spoken words, syllables, and onsets and rimes. The sight words will be used to "Read the Room" and help with writing skills. ELA RF.1.2 Math manipulatives will help students read and write numerals and represent numerals with objects. This skill leads to the understanding of adding to and taking away from any number. These manipulatives will further help students to accomplish recognizing numbers as parts (fractions) of a whole rather than singular items. MATH 1.NBT.1 The math and phonics sets in this project will give students hands on experiences as they learn.
