My school is a newly founded public charter school in Nevada and the funds for projects are limited. However, our school seeks to create and facilitate creative and unique experiences for each learner. For my particular project my students will create their own museum exhibit on a specific ancient African kingdom of their choice. In order to complete the assignment they need printed handouts of maps of Africa, printed primary sources and printed visual aids. My school does not have a printer that is readily available because of our size. A printer would help me to readily supply my students learning needs by printing their materials from my classroom. In addition, the books/resources on Ancient African Kingdoms: A Captivating Guide to the Civilizations of Ancient Africa and the Royal Kingdoms of Ghana would only enhance my students knowledge base and augment their visual learning (further equipping them with concepts and data to complete assignments related to their project) . The Swift wall maps of Africa will also permit the students to understand the political and physical geography of Africa. The historical resource ,Inquiry-Based Lessons in World History: Global Expansion to the Post-9/11 World will assist me in tailoring lessons that specifically target ancient Africa and will help them with the curation of their own museum exhibit. In addition, I do teach U.S. History as well and seek to procure resources such as Inquiry Based Lessons in History to create an optimal environment in which the students can readily engage with the content.
