Our students are small, but they have some BIG feelings. We would like to provide our students with a safe space, relaxing space where they can practice their coping skills. This is a place where students can go when they are angry, sad, overwhelmed, not feeling well, or they just want some quiet time alone. It will be a place where they can journal, meditate, practice deep breathing, color, or fall even fall asleep! This will help them decompress so that we can help them understand their feelings and how to manage them throughout the school day. Many of our students live in shelters or foster care and do not have spaces of own where they can calm down. We would like them to take ownership of this space so they can call it their own.
