First graders need headphones for listening and learning. During lessons, it is helpful when students are able to listen to the stories and activities. This becomes a challenge when our class does not have headphones as it causes a lot of noise throughout the class when they are each trying to learn something in their own pace. Allowing students to read and listen on their own improves their comprehension reading, especially in a community of learning where some are still learning English and Spanish as we are in a bilingual education school! In our class, we also use technology to help us learn! We use chromebooks to listen to books or do math activities. Headphones allow for students to listen to books online. If each student had their own set of headphones they could listen to read-aloud stories every day! Listening to books aids students' literacy skills!
