At Title I schools, funding cannot be used for AP materials and is usually earmarked to help with remediation of lower level students. This means that advanced and gifted students do not get updated material very often. Currently, our AP Human Geography textbooks are from 2007. This is a course that covers a lot of current issues and the textbooks are not very helpful. To remedy this, I am hoping to raise money to purchase a class set of AMSCO review books. These books help break down the content in a helpful and meaningful way. It is WAY more likely that I will get freshmen to read and use the material in the AMSCO book than their 2007 textbook. This will make a huge impact in helping students learn the material and prepare for the AP exam. They will also be able to be used for next year's students as well.
