Sensory items allow students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Items like the tactile pillows and the floor tiles evoke positive feelings through touch and sight. One item such as the wiggle pen would help a reluctant writer hold a writing utensil and make the experience enjoyable! These sensory items help gives students different choices and have independence in self-soothing. This also allows them to stimulate their brains by using all five senses. All of these items have been carefully selected with my student's needs and likes in mind. Some students in my class I have known for the past two years and have chosen items to help them grow!
