My students have a classroom library that is half set up with book bins and half shelves. The students are actively engaged in the book bin area and often look through those shelves but find the other shelves hard to work with and find books even though they are labeled. We have done lessons on using the shelves but it still remains a challenge. Having an organized library creates curious and engaged life long readers. With book bins like the ones they have in half the library throughout the classroom there would be a level of consistency and ease in finding books. This would also help create lifelong readers!
