Having a class set of high quality rainboots that will stay at school ensure that all of my students year after year, will have access to the outdoors. Preschoolers explore their world through their senses and through play! In the PNW it rains for a large part of the year but we spend up to an hour each day outside exploring our world. My students may only own one pair of shoes and having boots at school ensures they don't have to worry about getting their shoes wet and muddy. The outdoors offers many lessons for my students. Its a place to study insects, notice the weather, experience the sound of leaves crunching underfoot, and observing the neighborhood squirrels and birds. Being outdoors is a time for my students to discover and nurture a connection to nature.
