Today's 2nd graders will benefit from hands-on experience searching for words in a dictionary. The ability to alphabetize language and practice using multi-meaning words during Reading and Writing is essential to well developed readers and writers. My fabulous students will locate vocabulary words, phonetic pronunciations, and definitions in their Children's Dictionaries. Today's students have a lot of experience searching the internet, now let's teach them how to research in a hold-in-your-hands Children's Dictionary! They will post their discoveries for the class using their Post It Pads and Lap White Boards.
