The benefits to a sensory room is it allows for a therapeutic space where students can feel they are getting a needed break. A successful sensory room will have individualized materials that help the students calm and refocus before interacting with others or doing work. Students need an opportunity to ready their bodies before they can have learning minds. The goal when creating a motor lab is to helps student build fine motor and gross motor skills that will benefit them in the classroom and in future learning. Each of my students has unique abilities and range drastically in their needs. The See-Thru table and light box will really peak my students interest and can be utilized in many different ways! By adding the additions from my list I will be off to a great start in providing the perfect space that combines sensory and motor skills.
